Canonical (Stage 4A, owner-approved 2026-09-01; kind added 2026-09-26 as an owner-approved frozen-spec change, schema 0.2.0). Durable, transferable working context attached to an Attempt — written by one worker (human or agent, writing as its User), readable by whoever works next. Notes carry approaches tried, negative results, discovered constraints, useful sources, partial progress, blockers, hypotheses, handoff instructions, proposed next steps. They are not status fields and not Submissions: they are the persistent scratchpad that survives the worker who produced it, so a different agent or person can bootstrap from prior work instead of repeating it. Notes are PUBLIC with their Attempt in v0 (visible to anyone who can see the Problem; a writer should understand it is contributing shared context) — no private/restricted visibility machinery exists yet. Two kinds only: working (every Note added while the Attempt runs, one finding per Note) and summary (exactly one per Attempt, written by end_attempt atomically with the ending for EVERY outcome — completed, failed or abandoned — pulling the working Notes together for someone who reads nothing else on the Attempt; it replaces the earlier failed-only final postmortem Note). add_note never writes a summary; a second summary is impossible. Mutability and audit semantics (v0): a Note is editable by its author while the Attempt is ACTIVE and freezes permanently when it ends; the FINAL body is canonical — each edit leaves a note_edited ActivityEvent recording THAT an edit occurred, but historical body revisions are NOT retained (an explicit v0 tradeoff; no NoteRevision object).

At most one summary per Attempt; nothing else can create one.
Example: "working"

Example: "2026-09-02T09:20:00Z"
